Professor Adrian Briggs QC and his Oxford University colleague, Professor Andrew Dickinson have been working to see whether and how rules governing the jurisdiction of the English court might be re-stated with a view to increasing their certainty and predictability, while at the same time reducing the time and (especially) cost of determining whether the English courts have jurisdiction.
Their paper was presented to the British Institute of International and Comparative Law on 11th May, 2022. Work continues on the task of improving the text, and in due course it is hoped that it may be considered by those charged with the task of supervising the rules at a higher level.
